Body Time TV 4/26

Our 4th Sunday show on Body Time TV with Benham Samimi aired on April 26th (10:30am – 12:30pm)

One of the topics discussed were the pros and common mistakes with classes and services that are offered at the gym such as spinning, step aerobics, kick boxing, yoga/pilates, dance and personal training.

Spinning

Pros: work hips/legs, good cardio, weight loss and endurance.

Common mistakes: hip flexors/upper back trap, aggravate low back, cramping, dehydration, too much too fast.

Step Aerobics

pros: good cardio, balance and coordination and variety.

common mistakes: poor posture, bad form, and no increase in metabolism.

Kick Boxing

pros: good cardio, fast twitch and slow twitch, total body workout, burns calories, fun, and builds confidence.

common mistakes: throw out back, pull groin, no balance, not activating core, pore stretching, poor warm-up, and poor foot work.

Yoga/Pilates

pros: slow twitch, flexibility, core work, breathing, stress relief/meditative, and balance.

common mistakes: wrong positions, pushing too much, muscle strain, and pull tendons.

Dance

pros: good cardio, fun/exciting, agility coordination, endurance, fast twitch, and confidence.

common mistakes: ankle hip knee injury, poor alignment, and not engaging core.

Personal Training

pros: variety of workouts, motivation, personal attention, and controlled environment.

common mistakes: strengthening of wrong muscle groups, not properly assessed imbalance or poor injuries, and not taking the time to build foundation.
